Exciting News: New STEM Class Starting January 6!
We’re thrilled to announce a brand-new STEM class kicking off on January 6, running Mondays from 9:00 – 10:00 AM and Tuesdays from 4:15 – 5:15. Both classes will cover the same topics. Designed for students in 3rd through 8th grade, this hands-on class will dive into Lego builds with gears, pulleys, and motors, as well as electric circuits featuring batteries, motors, and lights. We’ll explore the physics and math concepts behind these creations, blending learning with creativity and fun. We might also look into basic programing for controlling Lego motors using Lego’s PoweredUp App (Scratch-like coding) or some custom C# code. For more details or to enroll, visit STEM Program – Homeschool Extras. This class was going to be a whole semester, but now it is for 1 hour a week for 8 weeks.

Goals of Homeschool Extras:

  1. Creative & Messy Classes: We provide opportunities for kids to dive into hands-on, messy activities that thrive in a group setting.
  2. Parental Break: We offer parents a well-deserved break by providing drop-off classes.
  3. Mixed-Age Learning: All ages are included in the same lesson. I will go more in depth with the older students and expect more of them.
  4. Support & Accountability: We offer guidance, encouragement, and a supportive environment for both kids and parents.
  5. Social Growth: Our program fosters character development as kids interact and socialize with peers of various ages.
  6. Diverse Learning: Kids benefit from learning under different teachers, providing fresh perspectives and teaching styles.
  7. Traditional School Experiences: Our classes allow kids to participate in activities and events similar to those offered in traditional schools.
  8. Fun Away from Home: Our classes offer a delightful break from the home routine.
  9. Family Inclusion: My own kids will be participating and benefiting from these classes as well.

Note: All classes are drop-off due to space constraints, though parent attendance can be arranged upon request. If you would like to see the classroom before classes begin, please feel free to schedule a visit!

A: Currently, all classes are held at my home, located in NW Cape Coral.

301 NW 18th AVE

Q: Can I stay with my children, or do I drop them off?

A: Due to limited parking space, we ask that you drop your children off most days. However, parents are welcome to stay. We just ask that you sign up for specific days in advance to ensure that all parents have an opportunity to stay if they wish.

Q: What type of classes do you offer?

A: We offer a variety of classes specifically designed for homeschool families. Our classes are structured to accommodate a larger number of participants, often more than the typical homeschool family size. We meet weekly to engage in learning and practice sessions. Some classes give students the opportunity to showcase their skills in a recital or performance, which parents, grandparents, and close friends are invited to attend.

Q: What about Physical Education classes?

A: PE Class will start with Session 2. PE for Session 2 will be a FREE get together at a local park. Parents are required to stay with their kids. Katie and Ryan will lead the activity, and parents can watch or join in!
