Summer Scratch Overview
This is a 4-week class during June, meeting for 1.5 hours each week. During this summer course, we will explore Scratch by creating a platform-style game. Students will learn core coding concepts, such as movement, collisions, variables, and more, while designing and customizing an interactive game.
Course Overview
Students will learn Scratch, a beginner-friendly block programming language designed to make coding accessible and fun. They’ll create interactive stories, games, and animations while building a strong foundation in programming concepts like loops, conditionals, and events.
This course is taught by Ryan Schlomer (239-203-7797), who has over 20 years in the software development industry.
Prerequisites
No prior programming experience is necessary, but basic computer or tablet skills are helpful, and enthusiasm for learning is a must. Children ages 8 – 14 can attend.
Almost any device (laptop or tablet) will work. Students are required to bring a laptop or tablet to class each week. If your child would like to join the class but they need a tablet to use, I might have an extra that can be shared in the class.
